The Devil Is In The News is loosely inspired by the ancient tale of Dr. Faustus' encounter with the devil. Or, if you prefer, it is based upon a simple question: what if the devil were to pay a visit to a respected scholar in today's world?
Unwittingly George Barrett - the respected scholar of my story who is also a famous op-ed columnist, a regular guest of talk shows and a notorious womanizer - raises the question shortly before his encounter with the devil: «In those remote times [those of Dr. Faustus] - he jokes - knowledge was considered evil. Today no one would ask Satan for knowledge, there is wikipedia for that. And any underage smartass can satisfy his appetite for sex without needing to sign a contract with the devil». And when eventually the devil comes to see Barrett, they don't waste time on contracts but party wildly with two women and some exquisite hashish, and the following morning everything is already over with Barrett in jail indicted for murder. Being so well known, the story of his wild party, the crazy deed for which he is in jail, and of his encounter with the devil attracts a lot of attention from the media and, as my title suggests, the devil makes it to the news. Which is what he wanted and had explained in the Prologue in the Penthouse - an obvious reference to the Prologue in Heaven of Goethe's Faust - with which my story begins.All Rights Reserved

Janice and Jace meets each other unexpectedly, like literal, meeting. They start off disliking each other. But then, a night at Jace's party, Janice asks for a favor. That favor is, to have sex with her. Of course, he accepted, he wouldn't give away an opportunity. What will happen? Since they love having sex with each other, they made a bet, to date each other. His pursuit is Mrs. Campion, a wealthy widow with a horrible personality. On the verge of asking her to marry him, he goes on a hunting trip to clear his head. What happens on this hunting trip changes his path in life forever. Sidney POV When I first had the idea for this story, I pictured a bear attacking Sidney. But doing research I found that bears are not common wild animals in England. I'm American and live in a state where bears are common. In doing research, I found that in the regency era there were wild cats that were referred to as phantom cats, panthers, jaguars, or leopards. Although, some accounts claim there is no such thing and stories were exaggerated. Anyway, for story purposes, this phantom cat exists. I know it may not sound realistic, but as I said before, there were stories about these wild cats in some of my research. I also came across stories of the aristocratic and higher class bringing these exotic animals to England to show off and look grander to others. It reminded me of someone purchasing a dog as a puppy, thinking it'll be great. Then months later realizing these cute puppies grow up and destroy your home and chew everything up. I pictured a rich woman insisting she have one of these pure black cats on one of her many voyages to far off lands and her rich husband buying her the exotic animal. Then as this cat grew and suddenly the realization that it's a wild animal and could potentially kill someone, these high society people may just decide to let the animal go in the woods to fend for himself. Now this cat is alone in a land he doesn't belong and trying to survive, perhaps resenting man for the cruel way he was treated. Now I feel sorry for the panther. Anyway, that's the backstory on the panther and why it may be in a place it's not supposed to be.

In New York City, Simon is having an affair with a girl whom he have known as twin flame. One night, yakuza gets his girlfriend and they bring her to Japan. Simon is happening to be a Police under Crime Investigation Division, handles the case, practices how to combat with a sword while searching to where at Japan they possibly go and what is the reason behind of kidnapping his girlfriend. While on the road in Japan, while asking about the location he suspected, leads him going to the mountains near Mt. Fuji. Accidentally, he arrived at an empty building at the mountains, when a group of ninja fights him with a sword. Fortunately, he have his back the sword and fights back at them, until he defeated them. Suddenly, from the dark area of the building, there is a shadow with a sword showed up, then he saw a girl wearing japanese tradition outfit holding a samurai. She fights him with her prowess with her samurai, until she beats him, left collapsed. Simon wakes up, when surprisingly, he is at the mountains full of trees and with wood houses at the center. He was tied up at a tree, when samurai girl with group of ninja showed to him. She asked what is his purpose of coming in. At first, she is not willing to help as it will cause harm in her community, but later was convinced without apparent reason, to help him. She come up with a decision after she made a meditation for several days, calling her to help that man. They both went around the mountains, while along the road he finds her doing a meditation every day. One day, he accidentally touched her hand, but she gets mad, and said never to touch her again. He finds it weird with a petty reason she gets crazily mad. When he touched her, he feels some kinda unexplainable feeling, but he rejected it.

George was very excited over the elimination of his rival and gained whole access on Millicent, who had already sworn never to have anything to do with Jack again due to the crime she believed that he committed. Five years later, Millicent got sick and was rushed to the hospital by George, who became very angry on seeing her lab results which stated that Millicent had a lungs cancer and damaged kidney. So he dumped her and fully followed other women, especially Sarah, Millicent's best friend. Her situation was arrested by Jack's visitation, who paid a part payment for the commencement of the surgery and medically signed to donate one of his kidneys to Millicent for the transplant, but was aborted when the doctor announced to them that, there was a misplacement of patients' lab results due to medical negligence. Like seriously! what really happened? Let find out........

Pen's uncle is a cop, and ever since she was able to crawl, she was being versed in the arts of stranger danger (and possibly a few karate, ninja-like moves). So when some unknown guy begins to chat her up through her car window, and then goes on to watch her as she drives away, she does what she's been taught: she goes to the cops. However, this turns out to be the least suspicious thing to occur in the following week. A new boy at Penelope's school invites her over to dinner, and suddenly she's being informed that she's involved in a prophecy (which was written on, excuse me, is that toilet paper?) to help stop an evil mastermind named Sir Dastardly and reclaim the prized Purity Crystal. Pen's reaction? (Well, after she goes a little crazy with her stun gun.) For reasons she still can't explain, to help him and his family take down Sir Dastardly and-so they tell her-to help save the world. Well, not all evil plots end the way we assume, right?
