Nathan Ryder is a first year college student who decides to live at home his first year of school in order to accommodate his parents' luxury, travel schedule and care for his younger sister, Wendy. Nathan had his year planned out but was shocked to find that his sister's best friend, the only girl he's ever loved, has moved back to his hometown. Always one for romance, Nathan tries to show a broken girl love while she continues to believe she is unworthy of it.

Violet Waverly, aka Wendy Ryder's best friend, remains the life of the party despite her difficult past which just so happens to be her very difficult present. After being away for two years, Violet decides to return to her childhood town to complete her senior year, where her friends - especially the boys in her town missed her. Considering her problems a burden, Violet shows others endless amounts of praise and love without accepting any for herself, but she is endlessly challenged by her best friend's brother to view herself the way others see her.

Will Violet allow others the opportunity to show her love, or will she maintain surface level joy while she carries the weight of the world on her shoulders?

I looked down at my palms as I rubbed the sweat against my jeans, "What do you want, Landon?" I asked, almost whispering. I felt his hand brushing against my right cheek, as he tilts my chin up to look back at him. His messy brown hair, his light blue eyes and his pink soft lips were just centimeters from mine. I felt his breath lingering on the upper tip of my lip. In a panic, I pressed my palms against his chest and push him off. He stumbled back with a surprised look on his face.
