When you are 10 you get a mark on your opposing wrist ( if you left handed its on your right, if right handed then left hand, ambidextrous then it depends on which one you use more ). The marks are usually something symbolizes your soulmate and their quirk, the more detailed and complex the mark, the more 'baggage' they have. It is considered good to have a simplistic mark, despite how beautiful the complicated ones are. When in the presence of your soul mate your mark will glow.
This is slightly AUish. There are still quirks but no "superheroes".

Izuku Midoriya: the truest hero of all time.
Izuku Midoriya formerly izuku yagi had a good life up until he was diagnosed quirkless. He was neglected and beaten by his own (all might, magnetic and Izumi) family and (1A) friends. Over the years izuku learn how to defend himself in private, read comics from before quirks were around and learning about heroes quirks. One day, while izuku is running away from his tormentors, he runs into the forest to lose them. After he does he realizes he's lost and then he sees a meteor coming towards him. After it crashes izuku feels like it's calling to him, he goes near it and almost in an instant he feels a sudden surge of power and strength he never felt before. Now with these new abilities he will become the next number one hero and symbol of hope.
