To complicate things further, she soon finds herself transported back in time to Kyoto, Japan, where the Shinsengumi are alive, and the original Water of Life research is taking place. The fateful arrival of Elena sets in motion a chain of events that changes the lives of everyone present that night. As Elena tries to figure out how and why she ended up there, she discovers truths about her past that rock her very foundations.
