The Mafia's Sin

"Dad!" I shout, my head immediately aching, for the little energy I have left in me is not enough for my puny body to manage such deafening sound

"Dad please! I'll do anything-anything you want" But like no other, I continue my pleads, truly meaning them, though his eyes look straight into mine,emotionless.

Emotionless towards my begging, my crying, my last bit of hope.

Making it to the end of the stairs I see people all around me, the music still blasting louder than ever

"Somebody please, help me!" I say, gazing towards any pair of eyes I come to meet, ready to implore once I have gathered their full attention

But just like my father..they're all unconditionally and utterly out of it, they're all in a different state of mind, the state of mind where they see me as an illusion or maybe where they see this as a normal everyday thing

Once I feel the cool air of New York graze my skin, I knew I lost it...I lost the hope.
