"This is the City Hospital and we've just had a patient bought in by Ambulance. It seems like the patient was in a car crash and he's been severely injured. Your number was the most recent number on his phone so we thought it'd be best to inform you."

All the colour in my face drained.

"Wh...what's his name?" My voice came out shaky.

I prayed so hard that it wouldn't be who I thought it was.

Maybe it was someone else? Maybe it was a misunderstanding. It may not even be him.

"Umm let me just check."

I heard papers rustling around before he said two words.

Those two words that bought my world crashing down.

"Michael Clifford."

My phone dropped to the ground, shattering into a dozen pieces.
