In this world, everyone has a soulmate. They can communicate in different ways, as well.
Some people write on their body, so it shows up on their soulmate's body. Other people get a special diary printed that has their name specifically written on it so they can send longer messages to their mates.
Some people get lucky and their lover lives in their neighbourhood, but sometimes they could live on the opposite side of the planet.

This is a haikyuu soulmate au. The way the soulmates work is they will get a colour stripe on their dominant wrist, the colour will be their soulmates favourite colour and will be scented like their soulmate. Their soulmate's initials will be engraved in with the stripe. if the initials are white then the soulmate is platonic and if the initials are black then the soulmate is romantic however this can change but that is very rare.
