Leaving behind a pregnant lover and love of his life, thought to be deaths by his family and friends, Beck Baxter sat in the brig of a ship, contemplating his escape from the place he had been so long. He could still see her face, his lovely Victoria's face, bright and shining as she smiled at him with admiration. Just the thought made him smile and gave him renewed hope that he would get out of this place. He would get out of this place.
Beck escaped, returning home to a place he hadn't been in months, finding a surprise waiting for him, but though he does not mind this surprise, one thing still haunts him.
The captains threat.
"If you escape, I will kill every man, woman, and child at your manor, then burn it to the ground."
That threat still haunts him but Beck is determined to keep his family safe at any cost, even if it meant giving his own life for their safety.
