We all have ghosts, memories that haunt us and follow us wherever we go, however far we try to run.
After the tragic death of their parents in a car crash, Tally Nolan and her younger brother Tristan leave for Ireland to live with a grandmother they have never met, in a village they have never seen. Halfway up a mountain and under a constant rain cloud, Ballypooka seems like the least interesting place on Earth.
It is, of course, the people who bring it to life. There is Mia, with her bright pink hair, and Eimear, her bitter and acidic twin sister. There is Shay, the ever-cheery joker. Nat: blond, British, and 'in love' with Eimear- Evan: Nat's adopted brother, gay, and scarred beyond belief. Nick- a snotty rich kid, anti-social in the extreme, and a budding alcoholic. Then there is Kit Sparks, never out of trouble or attempting to solve someone else's problems, and his brother Toby, small, smart and constantly bullied.
