Topaz Everheart lives the life of a series of what she likes to call, plot twists. Nothing ever goes her way, things just always get switched up and go way off of plans. Things rarely go well in those situations. When she meets Cody Mason, a new boy in her class, he instantly starts hitting on her even though he went popular in only 24 hours. Why would he pick the weird unfortunate Topaz? Their relationship flourishes and she begins to hope that maybe after 17 years of things having a plot twist one thing will go right. Or will it?

When her father died three years ago, Becca was forced to grow up, quickly. Her mother had a nervous breakdown and now acts like she's the teenager. But other than having to take care of her adult mother her life was going just as she had planned. She craved the stability and control that her planning gave her. So much of her life she felt like she had no control over things so she left nothing to chance.
So what happens when a stupid school assignment puts her in close proximity with Jack O'Connor one of the hottest guys at her school?
Becca knows Jack, he's a playboy. And she knows this because she lives in the same apartment building she does and sees the bevy of girls he parades around. Nothing good can come from this and she is determined to keep her distance from a boy who may just break her into un-fixable pieces this time. But the more Becca tells him that she wants nothing to do with him the more intrigued he is with her.
