Young Cassidy Readlin has just moved into a new house with her parents and dog, Riley. Cassidy is expecting a fresh new start at school and with her own life as well. But she's a little too confident. She is bullied at school, and finds herself home alone when someone breaks in and holds her at gunpoint. With things not able to get any worse, the unexpected is befalling. Riley is sick, and her doctors don't believe there is a cure and soon give her the diagnosis of Hermangiosarcoma. Now, surgery is Cassidy's only option. With the surgeries taking place, Cassidy finds out that the girl that's been bullying her and the man that broke into her house have some kind of connection. With time running out and school becoming a major priority, Cassidy doesn't know how much longer Riley has.
