Connie Mitchell has worked at Ocean World for an entire year. But it's not as cool as you might think, because she's stuck serving half-cooked burgers and lopsided ice cream cones to rude customers. Her dream job of becoming a dolphin trainer was stolen from her by her ruthless ex-boyfriend, Trevor Martin. So not only is she forced to serve people, but she has to do it right in front of the dolphin training area, where she has to witness Trevor interact with the dolphins.
She's had enough. She makes plans to leave Sea Dale and let go of her dream of becoming a marine biologist. But her family is holding her back, as well as the emotional ties she just can't cut. Just as she's about to leave and never look back, she meets a cute surfer named Logan Haines. He offers to teach her the basics. When they're out at sea, they meet and befriend a pod of wild dolphins. Everything seems to be going great, until she finds out some dark secrets about Ocean World.
She refuses to leave Sea Dale, not without rescuing the dolphins that are trapped in the marine park first. Including one special baby dolphin, named Ember. Logan and Connie are forced to not bend the rules, but completely shatter them into microscopic pieces. They make a plan so crazy that it just might work.
