Monster -(The Infected Series)

We were running to the end of the hall. I felt her behind me, both of us out of breath. I realized I had tears running down my face, I wiped them off, and they formed at my tear ducks and slid down my face again. The lights above us were dimmed and now blinking on and off. We had to hurry, there wasn’t much time. We weren’t close enough, together we wouldn’t make it 2 miles, and she’s already tired. They were right behind us. I ripped off my jacket and tossed it away, it was just restricting me from moving normally anyway. She was breathing heavy, but we couldn’t stop. We couldn’t. I grabbed her hand, and thought of home. Her pulse was so fast compared to my close to nothingness of a pulse. My body was sore, my hands felt ragged, I felt like each step would be my last and I was sure they were. I looked back in time to see it all collapse behind us.
