Sean Leelan was a man of many faces. He was a doctor, a child, a magician, a hero, and a murderer all at the same time. After his best friend's death, he was left broken and wallowing in guilt, obtaining abilities he couldn't control and wishing he could just isolate himself from everyone forever. But now the ghosts of his pasts are coming back to haunt him all at once, and the choices he makes might drag the whole world down with him. And so the question remains: will he ask for help? Or will he perish trying to do it alone. Book 1 of the Hero(es) trilogy *under editing* Edited by @Aslan_Lives Submitted to the Wattys! Some of these characters have been inspired by Jacksepticeye and Markiplier's egos. Very loosely though, so don't spam me if there are some similarities. Cover credit goes to the Plasma Awards Community, thanks so much!

When my mother was alive, magic was the only string that kept her and I together. The silly card tricks, even pulling a rabbit out of the hat. It all connected me to her, pulling me into a seemingly better reality than where I was. But in the blink of an eye, she was gone. That string snapped. Magic was only real if you believed, and at that point, it was just a game to me. All it did was provide false hope. I forced myself to keep performing for her, deceive others into thinking that what they saw was real. Seeing magic fill others with joy made me question; why. Why would seeing something impossible make someone so happy? Because seeing is believing. And the closer you look, the less you'll see.
