Two years after the events of Devil May Cry 4, Dante returns to Fortuna Island. There he meets a speaking acquaintance again: Nero. The young man has founded an organization called Golden Fortuna, with whose members he was able to bring positive changes to the island, in the meanwhile. However, it becomes clear very quickly that the renewed encounter is not only about harmony and peace. In addition to the sudden attack of an extraordinary big demon's horde, which may suggest unrests in the demon world, Dante, and especially Nero, have to experience the true meaning of the Devil Bringer, and also its consequences. In parallel, the demon hunter gets visited by a mysterious woman, Hera, who entrusts him with a special assignment. With accepting the mission, the story takes its course, therewith revealing some more facts to Dante he could not even imagine to be real: His customer represents a new significant species and also shows a different world aside from the demon's home. Furthermore, the troublemaker of the demon world, which is not Mundus being the darkness' ruler in the first place, arises and brings chaos and danger to mankind. Unsuspectingly and blindly but with the usual looseness, Dante plunges into his next and, at the same time, last adventure. It is even his biggest challenge so far. The uncertain truth, that all events and destinies are subject to a more than 2,000 years old prophesied natural law, revives a chapter believed to be completed for Dante ...
