Two years after the events of Devil May Cry 4, Dante returns to Fortuna Island, where he once again crosses paths with Nero, who is now the leader of an organization called "Golden Fortuna". However, being the Son of Sparda, there were still Demons that slipped through cracks of the Twin's Seal, and broke into the house, attacking the woman before being killed by Vergil. Heartbroken, he finds his son still alive, and in his mother's arms crying. Vergil vows to never let his son experience weakness like he did.
