Anna and Ava have been friends since kindergarten and they had recess with the 1st graders almost every day. Ava started talking to Thomas one day and told Anna to come to talk to him too. They all talked for all of the recess one day, just getting to know one another more. They stayed friends all of the years they were in school and they still are today. In high school, senior year, Ava and Anna's parents went on a trip to the Caribbean. The day they were supposed to come back, their plane crashed into the ocean and there were no reported survivors. Ava and Anna are old enough that they don't need a guardian anymore, but they couldn't live by themselves. Ava and Anna have attacks sometimes, sometimes One more than the other. After the crash was reported, Ava and Anna didn't have anywhere to go, so Thomas welcomes them into his house. (He had 2 spare rooms) Ava and Virgil became friends, they can relate to so much. And attacks came more often for both Anna and Ava. Life just got so much harder for both of them. Ava is depressed and almost always in her room. But at least they have Thomas and his adorable sides to help them with life... ...a horrible, tragic, unfair life.

Logan's fine. Really. He has no problem (has resigned himself) with the fact that his best friends (whom he also has a terrible crush on) are dating. The fact that their other two friends are *also* dating absolutely doesn't pose any additional problem. Neither does Logan being the sole only child of their group. Really, he's okay. But then comes Virgil, a teenager (barely adult, really) from the north, fearful, promised in marriage and destined to give up everything to join them. The good news is, the "giving it all up" part isn't actually that bad. The bad one, well... Virgil's life has been turned upside down, for the better. And what Logan doesn't know yet is that he's about to do the same for him. And that is a second good news. Or: one year after From tree to tree
