In the Red Room, no rules are meant to be broken. However the Red Room's most prized Widow broke the most important rule - no distractions. Natalia Romanova and James Barnes broke the rule, making Natalia pregnant.

Ana Romanova Barnes was born on October 7 in the Red Room. She was told that her mother died in child birth and is forced to do wrong at the hands of HYDRA.

Natasha Romanoff was told her daughter died in birth and lived to tell the tale that she was never supposed to keep the child, it was destiny that the child died.

Bucky Barnes was told nothing, just that this girl is his child and he must fix her. Bucky took that to a new level when he trained her to become just as deadly as he was.

Zola Barnes, daughter of Natasha Romanoff, and the adoptive daughter of Clint Barton is raised in the red room for the first few years of her life. She grew up to the feeling of the Winter Soldier's metal fist punishing her for every mistake she made. She was thirteen-year-old Natalia's liability in the red room, but she was Clint Barton's world once he took the two of them in instead of pursuing his mission to kill them. Their lives change as they work for SHIELD alongside Clint, run from their old captors with his help, and hide in hotels and safe houses. Though Zola can hardly speak English or understand what is happening to her, she builds relationships with her mother, whom she used to be denied of seeing. She gets closer to Clint, who she genuinely believed was her father. She didn't know any better. Thankfully, she was happy to lose the one relationship she never asked for. She'd longed for a father figure, but the relationships she had with everyone in the Red Room, especially the Winter soldier, were not that. As unfortunate as it was for Bucky, who wanted nothing more than to be a part of his daughter's life, he was forced to watch her grow up in someone else's care from a distance. They wiped him so often, he would hardly remember her, anyway. Still, in the small moments where he could remember, he hoped that one day he would win her trust back as Bucky, not the Winter Soldier that she knew. BOOK ONE IN ZOLA BARNES SERIES.

- SHE WAS A SWEET, ROTTEN THING. Born dead, tossed in a metal coffin, reborn as an experiment, Subject RED was destined for great things. Not a child, not a girl, but a weapon. But what she would become was not a mere resuscitation of life. No, she was transformed, shaped by the hands of those who saw potential in her very existence. A puppet, perhaps, in their grand design, but also something more. A creation of flesh and bone, yes, but also of steel and secrets. Subject RED was not sweet innocence; that had been extinguished long before her rebirth. Her sweetness was tainted by the darkness that clung to her, a reminder of the life she had left behind, a life that had been snuffed out like a candle in the night. Rotten, in the sense that she had been marred by the hands that had sought to shape her into a tool of power. "This is the child of two of the most dangerous people on the planet, she mustn't be underestimated." HYDRA and the Red Room's most ambitious project yet, their whispers about her were no more than the sweet lullabies of her childhood as she was nursed with their needles, rocked by their punches and weaned on their commands. She would be better then her predecessors. She would be trained, raised and molded to best them in every which way imaginable. And when she had had completed the last step of the program, she would kill them. Her makers, her progenitors, her parents. And then, Subject RED would help HYDRA and the Red Room heel the world to their feet. WOUNDS WE LEAVE SERIES book 2 - mature content ahead! copyright! 2019 © - aka don't steal my story!
