"I'm not from your world," he said.
Because he's not real, my brain screamed at me. But my heart wanted to just sink into the moment. I didn't want to ruin it with my cynicism.
Real or not, it was peaceful. I could smell his herbal scent that always reminded me of spring and plant life. I could feel the crisp material of his shirt on my cheek. His arms were so strong and steady around me with his hands firmly resting on my back. If I could live like this forever, I would.
"You're waking up soon. But no matter what happens in your world, you can always come back to me," he said.
"I don't want to wake up," I said into his shirt.
"It's okay. I'm always with you," he said.
"Just a couple more minutes. I just want to stay like this."
"Okay," he said softly, resting his chin on my head and pulling me closer...
