Whilst investigating the death of a local detective, a friendly detective called Y/N L/N uncovers a legend about a masked murderer, that had been circulating throughout America. Whenever she'd found herself in a relationship with somebody, in no more than three days were they found dead.
The doomed few appear to be ordinary people during day to day life, but in photos, they were crossed out in red
Y/N gets hold of the murderer, refusing to believe the superstition that they were specifically targeting her close friends. A collage of images flash into her mind: a kind yet loud man balancing on a line of love and insanity, an old letter coated in blood she'd found on her doorstep, and a hooded figure that walked just a little too close behind her whenever she went home.
When Y/N notices this strange occurrence, she realizes that the killer may be after her next and calls in her close friend, the only one who hadn't been killed, a tattoo artist called Alfred F. Jones, to help.
Little did she know, however, the killer was right under her nose.
"You're different from what I expected," she said softly.
"How so?" he asked, glancing at her.
"I don't know," she replied, searching for the right words. "You just... have this way of making people feel like they matter. Even here, in this... nightmare."
He was quiet for a moment before responding. "You matter, Y/n. Don't forget that."

Y/n wakes up in the deadly Squid Game, surrounded by strangers and fighting to survive. What she doesn't know is that the mysterious Frontman is watching her every move through the cameras- and she's caught his attention.
