Fashion illustration is a visual communication through the art of designing, painting, drawing, sketching to share fashion ideas in different ways.

SKILLS YOU NEED TO BE A GOOD FASHION ILLUSTRATOR:
HUMAN ANATOMY (SKETCHING): One must need to have basic understanding of how to draw a human figure of different shape & size along with different poses, sometimes you might get your projects without any instruction or reference where you have to create the whole illustration on your own. So if you are well versed with your skills it will be easy for you create whatever you want to create.
CLOTHING SKETCHES: When we say fashion illustration, a major portion lies with clothes, one must be good at draping, one must know how different clothing hangs, what look it gives and one must know how to illustrate a fold in illustrations. Knowledge of fabric is also required in order show the difference between chiffon & cotton, the viewer must feel the fabric looking at the illustration.
STILL LIFE (OBJECTS): Still life drawing is one the key thing in fashion illustration. Accessories like bag, sun glasses, footwear are used a design or used as a prop. You must have the idea about adding an object or subtracting an object from illustrations, you should have the skills to sketch the exact texture or pattern of the particular fabric.

CAREER AS FASHION ILLUSTRATOR :
Nowadays companies hire fashion illustrators as a full time employee. You can work in media houses, TV channels, designing studios especially in magazines focused on blog illustrations, accessories, and more. Even smaller media companies some time require illustrator work. You can work as fashion illustrator professor in fashion designing institutes. The only thing you have to do is to work on your craft & get better at it.
