Roger O'Moore awoke on his tenth birthday to a series of surprises, surprises that solidified the tenth birthday as being one of major importance in Half-Elf tradition. He never expected it to go so well as many of his birthdays before had been so disappointing, but today he was allowed to fulfil one of his lifelong dreams. He never could grasp how important this birthday was in shaping the rest of his life.

The breaking of worlds is much louder than one might think. While in all natural senses it is nearly silent; no birds flying about and singing their songs, no noises from the heavy traffic mere feet away from where I stand, no airplanes cutting seams into the otherwise-perfect blue sky, my ears ring with the deafening roar only I seem to hear.
