Annabelle was lonely, she had been for years. Twenty one and on her own, she hardly left the house. When she did, she got odd looks and plenty of staring, and not the faintest idea why. She knew she was pretty, and not in an overly confident, conceited way. It was the type of pretty that was hard to miss. In fact, in her eyes there was nothing strange about her. Yet she couldn't go anywhere without drawing all kinds of attention. Finally, sick of the unwanted attention, she declares herself a recluse, no longer leaving the house for anything. However, this loneliness gets to her, and it isn't long before she finds herself desperately needing a friend.
James is drop dead gorgeous and he absolutely knows it. Everywhere he goes, he has all eyes on him and he loves it. He could have any girl he wants in the blink of an eye. Naturally outgoing and all around lovely, he's not the stuck up jerk you'd expect him to be. He's sick of the girls that seem to follow him in hordes and he's looking for a change. One day, by chance or fate he'll never know, he finds a letter in his mailbox, written by the captivating Annabelle.
Two separate lives finally brought together. One letter, one love, one terrible secret that neither of them could have ever seen coming. Fate can be cruel, but who would have ever thought it could be this cruel?
