Henriad (History Plays, Book 5)
40 parts Complete The heir to a criminal empire must deal with his father's terminal illness, raising his siblings alone, falling in love, and the excrutiatingly painful trials that come with growing up.
Since his mother's untimely death, Harry has been fiercly protective of his siblings and the family business, which would be easier if his father would trust him instead of pushing him aside.
All Harry wants is to care for his family like his mother wanted, but everyone seems to prefer if he stayed out of the way. How is he supposed to learn to grow up and be a man if his father won't give him the time of day? Growing up is painful for everyone, falling in love is confusing, and family is even more confusing, somehow Harry must learn to navigate it all through heartache and triumph.
A modernized adaption of Shakespear's history plays, Henry IV Parts 1 and 2, and Henry V, which is to say shameless fanfiction. Feels like an inspirational sports story.
Trigger/Content Warning: end of life issues discussed at length. Some brief sensuality and some voilence. Characters kiss at length on page, sex is not implied. Profanity throughout. Death of parents is discussed at length and depicted, be aware of your mental state and seek support as needed.
