In a future where the world is destroyed by otherworldly creatures, one man created an elevated society suitable for humankind to continue to thrive, while the world burns to ashes below them. Conrad Cato will forever be known as the man who saved the human race with his quick thinking and genius invention: a city in the sky.

However, not all goes smoothly in this high-tech paradise. Wickbrunswen has rules, and strict ones, at that. Anyone with any sort of "weird ideas" about the way the city is run is convicted, taken away, never to be seen again. No one knows what becomes of them, but they're too happy in their Sky paradise to care.

Blair Belsito is a talented young lady attending a school for prodigies in Wickbrunswen, and has had it drilled into her brain that Wickbrunswen is the best thing for her and the rest of mankind. But what happens when she gets a little too curious about the world below her?

Ryder Lincoln is a resident of the surface, a place where many end up but very few survive. At least, that's what the people of Wickbrunswen know and pass on. Ryder has been taught his whole life to resent the people of the Sky world, wanting nothing to do with their prim and proper civilization. He's fine just where he is.

What happens when Blair winds up on the surface and comes face to face with Ryder, her polar opposite? Maybe the two factions of the earth aren't so different after all...
