A long time ago, there was a war between the creatures of light and the creatures of dark. Many were killed during the war, and to make peace the different clans came to an agreement that there would be a marriage between the royalty, the fey and the vampires, to create an alliance. They agreed that, when the time was right and the sun aligned with the moon, the marriage would take place. A long time ago, this promise was made. And now it's time to fulfill that promise. Ailey is the daughter of the king of the Fey, and she is promised to the son of the vampires, Cleac. She is a carefree, artistic 16 year old. You would think she would be against the marriage since she had never met the man; but, actually, it's quite the opposite. She is excited. Never in her life has she met a vampire, and she is proud to be the one who is uniting the clans. But what happens when her dream becomes a nightmare? Cleac is the prince of the vampires. He is orderly and refined, though only 19. Cleac detests fairies. He doesn't agree to the marriage, and is only going through with it to please his clan. What will he do when his hands are full with a young fairy princess? Read to find out what happens❤

"Why do you think Katty chose 'Moon' as her surname? Why not just stick with Le'Roy?" I glanced at her in question, surprised by the random question. Lilith continued speaking when it was clear I had no answer. "I think it has a meaning, even if she hadn't been thinking of it at the time." "It means she wanted something a little less conceited than 'the king'?" "Well, her parents are technically royalty." Lilith grinned and shook her head. "No. I think she chose 'Moon' because of what the moon does. The moon can't produce its own light. It can only reflect back what it's shown. Above all else, Katty fears forgetting how to love. So she surrounds herself with those who have nothing left to lose, because they love the deepest, and she reflects it all back at them." I swallowed and she tightened her fingers in mine before disentangling and getting to her feet. "Try, Max. I promise you, they've got no ulterior motives. Not when it comes to loving you and wanting the best for you." Then she was slipping from the room. I dropped my face into my hands and shuddered. I couldn't cry. I was all dry already. But if I wasn't I would have had tears flowing down my face. I felt so stupid. All she wanted from me was love. All either of them wanted, was love. That's why my blood and my body meant nothing to them. Because all they needed from me was a demonstration on how to be human and a reason to stay that way. This story is meant to be read alongside Moon's Reign, which comes after Moon Rise. It is written to make sense on it's own, but it will begin rather abruptly and there will be little character introduction.
