It's been one year since Emma Winton's father was murdered right in front of her eyes. Ever since Emma has become withdrawn from society completely, not that she would be socially accepted anyways. The only person she can truly count on it her best friend Dalton, aside from her mom. One night when her mom forces her to go out with a coworkers daughter, she gets in trouble and a green-eyed mystery boy ends up saving her. Asher Blackmore is a guy from out of this world. Literally. Ash is part of a species called the Solarians. Long ago, the elders of earth called out into the solar system asking for help in protecting Earth. The Solarians lost their planet long ago and decided to answer the message and help protect Earth. Generations upon generations have led up to Ash and his team. When the aliens that invade Earth go after Emma, she, Ash, and his team must figure out the reason why and also protect all the Earths citizens at the same time. Will they figure out why and protect the Earth? Will Emma be able to find out who she really is and uncover the truth of a world she never even thought possible? ~ "You trust me, don't you?" I guess I did trust him, even if it didn't make complete sense. I walked over and sat next to him, still a little nervous that I would fall off the bridge and die. I felt him put his arm around my waist and pull me closer to him. "I won't let you fall," he said close to my ear. I involuntarily shivered at our closeness. I had no clue what was going on with me. I don't get involved with men, nor people. I don't usually get along with anyone, yet here I am, in the arms of a stranger.

"Those aliens are not my concern, the Earth and her populations are. Now, Callisto of the Scout Regiment to Salutem, as a citizen of this planet and a soldier under my command-" "I stopped being a soldier a long time ago. And those aliens have done nothing to you, you didn't even know they existed until I told you about them. I joined this mission not because I was ordered to, but because I wanted to carve my name in history. But I will not mark my namesake as a murderer of the very first species we have found that is on par with human intelligence! If my legacy is to be the protector of those you refuse to acknowledge, then so be it." The room hissed and flowed with whispers and gossip between the different board members, like a waterfall being heard through thick earmuffs. The only voice to be clearly heard was Director Striker himself. "You are rooting for a lost cause, soldier. It is the manifest destiny of us humans to reach out and touch the stars. And if the only way to touch those stars is to sacrifice a few savages, then that is what we must do." Callisto felt her anger towards a man she once admired swell in her chest and wash through her veins with a burning fire. He was proposing mass genocide simply because he wanted what belonged to them. The wheel of history turns, but nothing is ever new it seemed. "Have you read a history book in your life, Director Striker? Manifest destiny is used a mere few pages before a genocide. It's not a motivation, it's an excuse." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Fair warning: this is my very first original story so please be kind to my baby, she is a lifelong passion and a labor of love. •••COMPLETED••• •Please do not copy or post anywhere outside of these pages.
