Chloe is in love with Kyle. She is there for him any time day or night, whenever he needs to talk. He turns to Chloe for everything, disappointments, advice, celebrations. Whatever is happening in his life, he turns to Chloe. They even become intimate. She is his date for family events, and his parents adore her. They even introduce her to family and friends as Kyle's girlfriend.
Ben is Kyle's best friend. He is in love with Chloe. He is always there for her especially every time Kyle unknowingly breaks her heart. When Kyle goes on a date, Ben is comforting Chloe. When Kyle talks about his crushes or one night stands, Ben is there to comfort her. He holds her hand, he hugs her, he even takes her out, patiently waiting for her to see HIM.
Kyle gets a new girlfriend. This is the first girlfriend he has introduced to his parents, and taken to a family event, instead of Chloe. Ben is there for Chloe even more. When Chloe finds out she is pregnant, Ben is the first to know. He is willing to marry her and take care of her. He knows he can make her happy. Will Chloe choose happiness over heartbreak? There's this silence between us that stretches longer than it should, and it wraps around my chest like a weighted blanket. My throat tightens.
