After surviving an accident that took the life of both her parents, nine-year-old Joan Reynolds went to live with her spinster aunt, Emily O'Hara who taught her the tales of wee folk and light seekers. Joan soon came to realize not all fairytales were make believe as she soon encountered the spirit of a murdered girl, in need of help finding her way.
It's been ten years since her first encounter with a spirit, until recently when she and her friend Diana left on a vacation to France. Now spirits are even calling her on the phone. After arriving at the home of Diana's relatives, Joan decided to take a trip into town on her bicycle where she encounters a ruggedly handsome highwayman, who abducts her. She soon learns this man is known as Jon Rene Bonneville, the rightful heir to the throne. It soon becomes apparent that she's there to help him reclaim his title, but as she works to restore him to his rightful place, they fall in love. Torn between two worlds she must make a decision, reclaim the title and possibly lose the man she loves, or live out their lives under the tyranny of the Count. His future is in her hands, has she the strength to embark on a journey that will rewrite history, and forever change both of their lives? She can only pray that no matter what path she puts her feet upon, destiny will lead her to where she belongs, even if it takes two hundred years to reclaim her heart.
