Link is an eighth grade student who doesn't understand what's wrong with him. He has no friends, can't fit in, is socially awkward, and whenever he tries to talk to someone, he gets ignored. Not a day goes by without him crying for at least twenty minutes. His parents don't understand him, they tell him that it's only puberty and it'll go away soon, his counselors are not supportive, and his only way of comfort is food and video games.

One day, Link gets a message from a girl named Dana asking if he wants to be her friend. Despite the fact that she lives in a different continent, he agrees because he's so desperate for friends. Dana has the same interests as Link and has the same issues, and the two quickly bond. They spend years being friends, but Dana isn't who Link thought she was...
