In which a young boy meets and falls in love with the demon tormenting his sleep and eventually, his everyday life.
-
When a little kid gets startled by a bad dream, we don't usually think much about it. It's normal to scream yourself awake sometimes, or to awake to the feeling of your heart jumping out of your body.
We make these nightmares seem like they're just pictures made up inside your head. Like they're simply images that have no meaning to the reality that we prioritize.
What happens in the dream world stays in the dream world.
but believe me when I say they're even closer to reality than we think.

The words have been printed on his skin since the day he was born. People tend to assume he waves them off because he's used to reading the words on his skin, immune in the way other people who have unfortunate soul marks are. But that isn't it. With a blinding smile, he laughs fondly at the words. "I'm sure it'll make sense when it happens. Who knows? Maybe I'll spill coffee on them on the day of a really important interview they're running late for and this is what they'll say." He knows, in the end, it doesn't matter. If things go wrong in the beginning, they have all the time in the world to patch it up. Light for them is like a warm blanket that keeps them safe. Light, for them, is good. [Light chuckles] "I am good?" It smiles. People forget that the light from which they seek comfort can have them writhing in agony. Try looking towards light when celestial bodies go supernova. Try to save yourself when pure light robs you of your sight with its intensity. Feel, as it burns your very existence. Light is what shows them all the horrors in their life. Darkness swirled around. A soft smile on its face. "Oh Light, what would you do without me?" It asks, tilting its head. People think that Darkness is evil. Yet, they adore the tranquility of the dark night. The cool dark night brings them harmony. A sense of peace. Hitherto, they fear darkness. Darkness is where evil lurks. Darkness is bad. "Stay away from darkness" They say.
