Jo, a troubled 20 year old girl, is trying to navigate her way through life while fighting an internal battle between being what people expect her to be and breaking into who she really is. When Jo meets Kimmy, a goody two shoe turned bad, they begin a friendship that leads to the meeting of Kimmy's older brother, Kane. Kane is a police officer who is working hard to keep Kimmy safe and on the right track while trying to keep their family together. Kane is protective and doesn't approve of her and Jo's friendship because he believes that Jo is a negative influence. When Jo and Kane begin to get to know one another, feelings develop and Jo begins to let go of the mask she has been wearing for so long.
