Diane LaRusso spent her entire life having her decisions made for her. From Karate to college, Her brother Daniel and her Mom were always trying to shape her life in a way that they wanted it. And for a while, she let them...until now.
Years after Daniel's big karate championship, Diane reconnects with Daniels old high school bully Johnny Lawrence. Using her business background, she decides to help Johnny re-open Cobra Kai, as a way to finally make her own decisions about her own life.
If Daniel won't let her live her life her way, she's just going to have to strike first.

Lucky for Daniel, he isn't alone. The girl who lives next door, Marie Johnson, takes a certain liking to the dorky LaRusso boy. One thing that makes it worse for the both of them is Marie's previous relationship with Johnny Lawrence, the head student of the Cobra Kai's. The night of the Halloween dance, however, Daniel's attempt to get revenge on Johnny results in both him and Marie getting jumped. Luckily for both of them, the maintenance man, Mr Miyagi, comes to the rescue with a little help from Marie. With the threat of getting his ass constantly kick, Daniel asks Mr Miyagi for help to learn Karate. And with only a few months before the All Valley Karate Tournament, Daniel could use all the help he can get.
