Wikipedia says that a black hole is a region of spacetime exhibiting such strong gravitational effects that nothing can escape from inside it. Not even light. The theory of general relativity predicts that a sufficiently compact mass can deform spacetime to form a black hole. Well... That is all science can explain. It's basically a theory similar to life on other planets, bigfoot, yeti, or ghosts. I, personally, believe in ghosts and life on other planets. That's just me, though. Anyway, I used to think that everything disappears the moment it is sucked up into a black hole. I was SO wrong... but in the best was possible.
