After a deadly bout with one of his metal copies, Sonic is left in a coma for over seven months. Upon waking up, he discovers that G.U.N implanted him with the Paralysis nanobots, a microscopic system designed to keep his body paralysed for unclear reasons, which is now "deactivated". But when the Paralysis is mysteriously reactivated at random, Sonic has to face one of the greatest battles of his life - against the enemy and his own body.
