This is a story I wrote for the Scholastic Art and Writing Contest. It won a gold key at regionals under the category for science fiction and fantasy.
Evelyn is transported through time to what she is sure is certain doom. When she encounters civilization, some unexpected events unfold, and Evelyn has to make a life or death choice.
