In Boston, 1776, war is brewing as a girl falls in love with her brother's best friend. He loves her as well, and everything seems like a perfect fairytale. When the boy is arrested for defending his beloved, he is offered two choices: to join the Continental Army or go to prison. Before he leaves, Benjamin promises himself to Katherine and promises that as soon as he returns, he will marry her. Aching for her beloved, Katherine swears that she will do all she can to bring him home. When word of a young member of the upper-middle class, desperate for the return of her true love reaches General Washington, he seizes the opportunity to make her an official spy for the Continental Army. as a member of the upper middle class, Katherine would easily be able to gather information on the movements of the British officers. Her assignment is to become acquainted with the young Captain Marshall Davis. Things grow more complicated when she somehow finds herself developing feelings for the Captain, all while waiting for Benjamin to return home. When the war is finally over, both men are after the heart of the beautiful Kitty Montgomery, who is forced to choose between the happy and love-filled life that she always knew with Benjamin, or the exciting and uncertain life she could have with Marshall. Who will she choose?
