Zarqa is part of a Pod, a group of girls who haven't met the requirements for any of the 20 traits villages. She and the rest of her all-girls group travel the forests surrounding the villages. It's a free life and a good one for the pod. But when Zarqa's mother dies, her brother is left alone in one of the villages. Zarqa must get to him before he dies from abuse by his foster parents.
In her own pod, strange things are going on. The girls, once agreeable and friendly towards one another are fighting. Someone is tearing them apart from the inside--but who? And can Zarqa stop them before it's too late?
