The Winged
Surviving can be difficult when you're only a few inches tall. Fanged beasts see you as their prey, every creature is bigger than you, and the world seems to work against small things. Not to mention the struggles of getting from place to place... but the worst of it all? Humans. Once a year, every year, summer sweeps over the forest. The sun warms the leaves and the damp melts away until the world of the Winged flourishes. Those warm months are when survival becomes the hardest. Drawn by the beauty of the forest, humans of all kind invade the already dangerous home of the small Winged people. Fear of these monsters is shared throughout the tribes. One sacred piece of advice is known: avoid humans at all costs. They know only how to destroy and hurt. ___ Despite the protests of her close friend, Azure accepts a mission that takes her from the safety of her tribe. A caravan of Humans traveling on the boarder of the Kingdom of Sand and Jade Mountain, on the way to the Indestructible City. During the journey the Caravan gets attacked by a gang of sandwings from the Scorpion Den. This event is what causes the splitting of our main characters, or the caravans survivor's . The group of survivors consist of 2 sisters of different Ages, and an 15 year old hunter who's whole life has been spent trying to prove to his father that he isn't worthless. "What the hell are you doing, Decoda! We're going to die!" She shrieked. "Come on, come on!" I chanted, willing my wings into existance. Fire surrounded me and I opened my wings, appearing almost stationary in mid air only about 20 meters from the water. Before I could move them, a horrid shot of pain ripped through my wing as I fealt it tear. I shrieked and whirled around as my wings deteriorated and hit the water first. But Hare manages to be convincing enough, and the last thing he wants is to have to live in fear of losing his mother to the war.
