This will be my first attempt to putting words to my imaginations. Hope you will all take the time to like, share and comment.
The Summer of 09
When my mom said we were going to the province for our summer break I was not pleased at all. I wanted to spend it here with all my friends, hang out in the mall and do what we do best - shopping !
"Mom why can't we just stay here? Why do we have to go home to the province? there's nothing to do there."
" We have to, your dad and I have things to settle there. I promise we won't stay there for the whole of your summer break, we'll come home once everything is settled then you'd still have some time with your friends before school starts again." Mom had said and that left me no choice but to start packing for the impending trip "bummer" I sighed loudly I turned and saw my mom looking at me curiously and I just smiled back. The next day couldn't come quick enough. I'm pretty sure my friends won't be pleased.

People went crazy buying another house, a boat, a Hummer (at 10 miles to the gallon). I distinctly remember two couples, in their late 30s, who were shopping together in Toys R Us. They had a video camera and were discussing the "rules" to this shopping trip. The rules were they had to look into the camera and say what they were buying, for who and why. And the carts had to be overflowing with toys. It was as if they had dreamed their entire lives of doing a "who cares how much it costs" shopping spree at Toys R Us for their children. Just recklessly spending on a bunch of STUFF. That was 2007. And then came 2008. But, more disturbing to me, was the impact it had on families. I think moms and dads lost themselves in providing stuff for their kids and not giving their kids time. And I saw the kids suffer because of it. So, I did a little research and a lot of observing and I wrote a mostly fictional story about an upper-middle class family in the OC. It explores (it simple terms) what was going on in the economy and what teenagers really want from their parents...Complete
A SASSY GIRL'S CHEESY STORY :)
The early morning sunlight was irritating me to open my eyes and as usual being lazy I was rubbing my eyes to adjust with bright sun rays. My mom was calling me(i.e.. shouting) and I was trying to close my ears to stop hearing to her early morning lectures which is difficult to stop. I was going through this imagination when she suddenly entered into my room saying "Jassy what were you...." She stopped speaking and stared beside me disbelief and panic written all over her face and she just became mum and I was not understanding what she was exactly looking at and I followed her gaze only to find the half covered Rian(childhood friend of mine) sleeping peacefully with his mouth slightly open and I immediately got up from my bed only to get the another deadliest shock of my life and that is I am barely having any clothes and my mom looked at me and started calling dad "Mike... where are you? What are you doing? Come her soon" and while calling her tears escaped from her eyes and I too couldn't control my tears as I was unsure what I was seeing in front of me. As soon as my dad entered the room he was speechless to witness the scene in front of him. All this while I went to my wardrobe with my blurred vision due to tears and removed an oversized t-shirt and wore it only thinking that someone would come to my rescue to wake me up from this scary dream. "Brian... come out of your fucking dream world now" my dad shouted at Brian shaking his shoulder vigorously. "Good morning Uncle" Brian said as if he was unaware of the situation before him. Then he yawned and stretched his body and looked around and gave a confused look before fixing his gaze on me. I can say only one thing from his expression now.. He was horrified and got up in an instant to find himself in only an underwear. He looked at me and asked "How come I am sleeping in your room like this?" I was not understanding what to say as tears kept rolling onto my cheeks.Complete

"She is spoilt rotten, she has absolutely zero manners. A rich spoilt brat is what she is. I don't like her! I really don't! I cant stand a minute with her. " I said, frustration evident in my voice. " Oh My dear boy. Please don't be like this. We need the money. It's been so hard without your father. I am already in a lot of debt as it is and its just been a year since he died, God bless his wonderful soul." My mom says sniffing back her tears. "Her father is offering you 5000 dollar's a month just to tutor her on weekends. That's what I make in five months!. Don't let this foolish dislike for Danielle cost us this great opportunity. Plus, you never know. The two of you may become friends eventually " she finished, forcing a smile. We did need the money. And I'd do anything to see my mother happy. I got up from sitting beside her, my hands in my pocket. I didn't look at her when I spoke. I really hated what I was about to agree to. "I'd do it Mom. But only because of you. Because you and I do need the money. But about me and her being friends..... Its not going to happen Mom. I can guarantee that" I finally looked at her and she was smiling, a real smile. I'd do anything to always see her smile like this. She has been sad for too long. "Id see you later Mom" I say and gave her a quick kiss on the cheek and rushed out of the house.Complete

I'm just lying here in stillness and darkness wondering why. Why did this have to happen to my mom? We have nothing we can't even afford a house. Here I am a 14 year old boy that lives in a shelter home. Mom says one day we'll get out. But I've lost all hope. And I know my mom has no hope either. If she did I wouldn't have to hear her cry herself to sleep at night. I hate seeing her in so much pain. I wish, I could get a job. Maybe since I'm younger and a boy they'll hire me. Who am I kidding? My mom's in her 30's she's not old either. Sometimes the idiots that run this place kick my mom out for the night because she's making too much noise after hours. My mom was crying; is that too hard to understand? I hate this place. Well, tomorrow's our first day apart since summer started. They're forcing me to go to high school. I'm okay with school but I don't want to leave my mom alone in this world. Well, I guess there's a better chance of me getting a job if I'm in high school. You know there's one thing I remember my mom telling me when I was young. "Never frown; you never know who's falling in love with your smile." Words to live by.
