Daniel is an aspiring lawyer, like his Uncle Keegan. He has plans to become a member of parliament, even Prime Minister. A year after he finished his schoolings, he is still living at Avebury Manor with his brother, sisters and parents, among his vast family. One day, he travels to London and finds a striking, slightly darkened skin, yet still fair, woman with a child in her arms. He takes her home the following week and his mother falls in love with her instantly.

Olivia Wilde is the bastard daughter of a plantation owner. Her half-sister was married off to an Englishman and Olivia went with her beloved sister as her lady's maid. Her sister's husband impregnated her on the trip over and a year later, Olivia and Isabelle's daughter and son were born as English people. Isabelle urged her sister to take her son and run away, and Isabelle would get her American Emancipation papers. So Olivia did as she was told. She soon realized that she would need help. When Daniel Goddard takes her home, she is given a position as a house maid and her son is well taken care of. Olivia slowly realizes that Daniel's heart belongs to her, but does hers belong to his?

After a disastrous first season in London, Rose Wilde finds herself torn between two men who love her -- but who both hide secrets that could ruin her. ***** Rose Wilde has always considered herself plain, especially when compared to her beautiful older sister Charlotte, and has practically given up on the idea of being romanced. But when American hotelier Derek Montgomery comes to revolutionise her little, sleepy English village of Ascot, Rose starts to revisit the idea of falling in love. However, Derek brings with him many secrets and obligations, some that might prohibit him from pursuing Rose -- and push her into the arms of her friend, Michael Cornell, the Marquess of Juniper.
