I wrote part of it about five years ago and finished it more recently, so there is a (relatively) dramatic shift in style about halfway in. I think the first parts are ehhh but it gets really fine tuned by the end. Her death happened because her father abandoned Rini for another woman and child who wasn't even trapped or hurt. So, Serenity wants to make Amber pay for everything.
