"maybe not," she says softly, stepping closer and resting her hands on his chest. "but you're the only one who's ever made me feel safe."

taehyung chuckles, low and dark. "safe? with me? baby, i've destroyed lives, taken them. i ruin everything i touch."

she shakes her head, her voice steady. "not me. you saved me."

for the first time, taehyung wonders if saving her might save him too.
