Doch keiner den ich kenne könnte sich vorstellen dass unser Leben in 100 Jahren genauso ist wie ohne Strom und Elektrizität.

Technology. A simple word, isn't it? Well... Not really. It can be anything. Your phones, your PC, or any other device you're using to read this description. BUT... It doesn't end there. Televisions, radios, refrigerators, ovens, blah blah blah, the list goes on and on. Pretty cool, huh? Well, now, let's think of technology in a fictional world. Or even better, a fictional world, where people have gone through mutations in their very genes, giving them specific "inhumane" abilities... Coined as "quirks". In the light of such mutations, people started to bring their dreams to realities, and the concept of "heroes" and "villains" came up. Such genetic mutations spread all around and now, the mutated people, or, "quirked" people, make up about 80 percent of all human life on this fricking earth! Getting back to the point, technology surely has MUCH MORE influence and practical use in this world. Now, imagine the power to control this technology. Or, having a quirk that allows you to do so. Let's join each other and follow the journey of a young man named Y/N Colomar, who has this specific quirk. Like any other kid his age, he wants to be a hero. During the filming of "Star Trek: The Next Generation", there would frequently come times when the story called for the characters (and in the early days, it was often that bane of Trekkies everywhere, Wesley Crusher, the Platonic Ideal of Dork) to fix some far-future technical problem. Which means said characters had to employ far-future tech. Which by definition hasn't been invented yet. What happened over the course of the series was that they engaged a couple of people to be in charge of continuity and technology, and the script writers would insert into the scripts, "[technobabble here]", leaving the staff TechGeek to insert the proper futuristic-sounding tech gibberish. You know: Stuff that sounds realistically scientific, but is really just verbal handwaving. "Tachyon fields"; "Inertial dampers"; and so on. Welcome to my non-fictional, non-Star Trek, highly-idiosyncratic take on tech, tech-related topics, and sometimes random stuff that's just obliquely related to tech that was triggered by me reading or hearing or seeing something that happened to drift through the wide-open transom of my brain and get stuck there. Some of the items you will see here are funny, some I hope are thought-provoking, some could probably be filed under the hashtag of #DougRant, filtered through what my life-partner calls my "weird perspective".
