Crystal Nelson has learned not to grow close with anyone. When she was 9 she lost her brother, 11 her mother and her sight. At age 12 she is captured by the Galra and her father dies trying to protect her. But during her first gladiator battle, something happens. This led to experiments, day after day, for 5 long years. But one day, Shiro shows up. He finds his way into her heart and gives her reason to hope again. When he escapes and is supposedly dead, Crystal is left heartbroken. But one day she is saved by a girl named Pidge and that is when the adventure truly begins.
