Crystal Nelson has learned not to grow close with anyone. When she was 9 she lost her brother, 11 her mother and her sight. At age 12 she is captured by the Galra and her father dies trying to protect her. But during her first gladiator battle, something happens. This led to experiments, day after day, for 5 long years. But one day, Shiro shows up. He finds his way into her heart and gives her reason to hope again. When he escapes and is supposedly dead, Crystal is left heartbroken. But one day she is saved by a girl named Pidge and that is when the adventure truly begins.

"Allura and Coran hate me," Keith mumbled, trying to find some way to prove that they did indeed hate him. "No they don't, just give them some time to adjust," Keith turned around, pulling Lance's arm around him, "They have to get used to you. None of us hate you, not the smallest bit." Lance waited for Keith to argue but the boy had already fallen asleep. Lance hugged the boy tighter as he copied his steady breaths. Because the spiral light shattered, the Crystal Core was formed, and the Galra have been invading peaceful planets to them more power for the empire, and all that stuff. So Crystal Bearers are sent out on missions, freeing captured planets, freeing prisoners, recruiting new Crystal Cadets, stopping space piracy and other junk like that. I don't want to spoil anything else, so you have to read the book to find out what happens!
