Every year, the first child born on the winter solstice in an isolated village surrounded by woods is taken by the man on the moon due to an unfinished bargain, so that the curse is lifted for another year from the village. Each of these children is blessed with a gift. However, one year a mother leaves out twins in hope that they won't get separated. The gatherer sends one up to the moon and keeps the other to stay with her in the woods and trains her. But what if this tips the precarious balance between the village and the moon and triggers his wrath again? Who will be to blame? And how will they make peace again?
