Jamaica, born Agnes Okafor, 28, an engineering graduate, is not living a normal life. She was raised by her uncle at a tender age and then he taught her combat and the use of weapons. He then gave her an unsual job of extracting information from shady individuals and reporting back to him. Jamaica does the bidding of her uncle but realizes that she is constantly being denied information to complete the mission. By luck she completes each mission and withholds the information but indirectly passes it on to her best friend and newscaster, Abisola. Soon her uncle discovers her misdemeanor when she unknowingly falls in love with a hitman. When her uncle gets to know this one detail , he is enraged and plans to have her eliminated. The opportunity to do so comes when his agency is assigned with the task of taking out the hitman. Duke realizes this is the opportunity for him to take out Jamaica and specifically gives her the assignment with the help of his backup team.

A new student, Ariya, transfers to Vanguard Academy, a school for prodigies with odd talents. She's not a genius like the others-at least, not in the conventional sense. She's there under special admission after a mysterious event involving a cold case being accidentally solved because of her journal. There, she meets Ilyas-a boy with a reputation for never lying. Ever. It's not a moral thing-it's something deeper. Something eerie. He knows too much about everyone, and even more about Ariya. Everyone fears him. He smiles, but it never reaches his eyes. And when he says something will happen, it does. When students start disappearing, the school locks down. But Ariya starts noticing patterns in Ilyas's words-like riddles. She suspects he knows what's going on. And he wants her to play along. The catch? To survive, she has to lie better than the boy who never does.
