Chitose (meaning 'ascend with the strength of a thousand' origin Japanese) is the best (and only) friend of Alice she has been ever since Alice first came to Underland.... it is believed that she is actually FROM Underland but like Alice has no memory of it.... it is said that she left with Alice because the girl seemed lost but in truth there are actually TWO of her.... not they are not twins nor are they related in anyway... much like the story The Prince and The Pauper by Mark Twain the other version of her... the one that still lives in Underland but was never seen until AFTER Alice returns is named Llesenia (meaning: the gypsy origin: spanish)....
