"Hope is treacherous
but how can you live without it?"

- A burning rose (Elizabeth E. Wein)

This quote ran throughout his life...

He was waiting...

He is waiting...

And he shall always...

For her.

He shall not let the rose succumb to the flame of time or separation.

Disclaimer: This story is inspired from one of the first Arshi ffs I read- "I want you" By Nadia, the link to which is given below. Please go and read the story if you haven't already. I wanted to write a fanfiction retelling of sorts of it from Khushi's POV with a lot of personal changes. However, this can be read as an individual story too as I have changed many many many things, added new characters and what not.

I really hope you shall like this new point of view to that story.

His heart was a fortress, haunted by the warmth he pushed away, scarred by the silence he forced between them, all because he believed she deserved more than the broken pieces he could offer. And, her heart was a battlefield, bruised by all the words he never said and all the love he refused to show. But no walls are unbreakable, and no heart can stay silent forever. Sooner or later, her war would reach his gates, and maybe, just maybe, he'd let her in. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Set in early 20th-century Delhi, it is the tale of Arnav and Khushi, two childhood companions bound by shared trauma and unspoken affection. As they navigated the complexities of societal expectations and pursued personal ambitions, their profound friendship quietly transformed into a love they dared not acknowledge. Amidst the fear of losing each other forever, they must confronted their feelings and weighed the risks of pursuing a future together, where happiness hung delicately in the balance. It is my first attempt at writing fiction. I might be wrong about certain aspects of that age and era, but it's a fantasy, so why not? I don't own Arnav and Khushi, and this story is purely fictional. Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, or actual events is purely coincidental. This story is a submission to the 13th Anniversary Arshi Fiesta 2024, according to the moodboard Historical AU on Tumblr.

⚠⚠ This was my first ever FF and it's highly cliche, cheesy and hopelessly romantic so if you don't like such stuff, this isn't for you⚠⚠ HIGHEST RANKING: #1 in arnavsinghraizada on (17.7.18) #2 in arnavsinghraizada on (13.7.18) #3 in "barunsobti" on (11.7.18) #4 in "ipkknd" on (17.8.18) #4 in "barunsobti" on (6.7.18) #5 in "reunion" on (10.8.18) #8 in "reunion" on (8.8.18) #14 in "reunion" on (17.6.18) Shayam fished out the gun from his back pocket pointing it towards Arnav. Khushi's eyes widened in fear as she saw the scene infront of her. She felt her heart pounding in her chest painfully. "Aa..Arnav-ji.." She stuttered. But Arnav paying no heed towards her call, started taking steps towards Shayam. "Arnav-ji no..." Khushi tried to stop him. But Arnav kept moving towards Shayam, glaring him all the while. Shayam started taking back steps, still keeping Arnav at gun point and spoke, "Arnav, stop....I swear I will fire..." He threatened trying to stop Arnav. But Arnav paying no heed to his threat reached near him in two long strides and held his hand which was carrying gun. Shayam started struggling in his hold trying to squirm out of his grip. Khushi's felt her heart had stopped beatng. She got afraid because the gun was still pointed towards Arnav despite his hold on it. "Arnav-ji.." "ASR" Khushi and the officer spoke at the same time trying to convince him to loose his hold but Arnav was adamant. His grip tightened more as he tried to get the gun from Shayam. Both started struggling to get the grip. "Arnav-ji leave it...goli chal jaegi...the bullet can hurt you. Please leave it... Arnav-ji... please leave it..." Khushi pleaded with tears falling down her eyes. And her pleads fell in deaf ears. Both the men kept on fighting, trying to get the hold of gun. And then, a loud shot of fire echoed in the room followed by a loud painful mascular scream. "ASR!!!!!!" "ARNAV-JIII!!!!!" Cover credit:@SujzWriter

Hello Readers! This was originally a Bepannaah/Adiya fanfic, but I am publishing this story as an Arshi fanfic as well. I hope this fandom enjoys this story just as much as Adiya fans did. Description: A marriage of convenience between Arnav and Kushi. A tragedy brought them together and both knew they can never love each other. But then why were they drawn to each other? Why couldn't they stop themselves from coming closer? See their relationship develop in this new love story. "Tum meri zindagi mein sukoon le ke ayi...lekin tum zaroorat kab ban gayi patha hi nahin chala..." DISCLAIMER: The concept is inspired from the movie Bewafa, so I take no credit for that. I also take no credit for the characters of Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon or the pictures. HOWEVER, this story's development, the scenes, and the dialogues are mine. Any similarities to other works is purely coincidence. Any inspirations or references to other works...I will credit to at the end of chapters. This story will be in English, with some dialogues and lines in Hindi. Please forgive me for any grammatical mistakes as Hindi is not my first language. Plagiarism will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Remember, even "inspirations" require credit so please be respectful of my work just like I give credit to whoever I am inspired by. Lastly, please let me know if you like this story. I love reading comments. Feedback is always welcome, as long as you keep it constructive. Thank you so much for giving this story a chance! I'm hoping to connect with Arshi fans through this story.
