Erkenci Kuş: Broken Promises
Snippets of alternate outcomes in the lives and enduring love story of Can Divit and Sanem Aydin. When I started out with this story, I only intended to loosely base the 'short piece' on the events in Bolum (Episodes) 17 & 18 however, I got such positive feedback, I decided to stretch it out a bit. I'm still unsure how far I will stretch it but so far, I'm enjoying writing it and will keep going till I run out of steam. I can't think of any show/movie that I've watched in recent times to which I have reacted as I did when I watched Erkenci Kuş. The characters hooked their claws into me and wouldn't let go. I rooted for Sanem and Can; cried and laughed with them; railed at and cursed their detractors and finally rejoiced over their reunion. However, the ending was so rushed. After all the angst we were put through with their relationship, I felt robbed of an extended happily-ever-after. What we were given was too short. I hope to right that wrong, amongst others, with this story. Though I only watched the show in Jan/Feb 2023, I have since rewatched it countless times. There were certain parts of the plot which wound me up so much so this is me writing what I wished had happened. Enjoy!Complete

From the moment Can met this...tiny but so beautiful little girl with her big, dark deer eyes, he felt a very special bond between them. Mirhiban felt it too and happily noticed that Sanem trusted her eldest son ever since. Can spent all the time he could with 'his little babygirl' and helped her get through the loss of her own family. But both of them would grow up into adults, and...what about that 'special bond' between the sweet sixteener and that so tiny and beautiful little girl when that happens..? 10 minutes can be an eternity or a blink of an eye depending on where you're standing. For Sanem Aydin it was all the time it took to loose what she loved more than life itself, but she wouldn't look back. Those ten minutes showed her that her love was not reciprocated in kind and that it had all been an illusion crafted by an experienced seducer upon a naive and foolish girl.
