In JOS I set the rogue and con-artist Harric against a foil of warriors in a land threatened by magic and civil war. Whenever possible I turn familiar tropes on their heads: instead of a handsome young Lancelot, I cast a broken-down ex-champion addicted to pain-killing herbs; instead of a dashing Squire Brian, the old knight reluctantly takes an ambitious young woman as squire. Similarly, I re-imagine the standard medieval milieu by infusing aspects of two of my favorite historical periods, Elizabethan England, and The American Frontier. Both eras boast a kind of nationalistic arrogance that borders on hubris, and a magnificent spirit of resourcefulness and re-invention that is fun to play with. Can life get weirder after you fight an army of eldritch horrors? Well, it can, if you're Innocent Sun. Equestria has been plunged into dark powers not meant to be controlled, but then, what about Chaos Magic? Actually, things might only get worse. Whatever the case, Sun's back, and with the help of her friends, old and new, she's ready to use her witchcraft to fight back against (and probably crush beneath her hoof) whatever dares to threaten her peaceful life! However, Sun isn't the only one who's important - any character can be! Through the eyes of biased narrators, both original and from MLP:FiM, read harrowing journeys across Equestria's forgotten lands and familiar sights, or maybe just a wacky adventure full of nonsense. ...Still reading? Okay, good. So, this is obviously a sequel to my last story, Songs of Innocence, but if you haven't read that, that's okay! The explosive first chapter of this story will seamlessly make you understand who Sun is, which is what's most important! You can even think of the previous story as just the pilot, while this is the main series, so to speak. This story will be a much more... casual read. Unlike SoI 1, this one is not based on a previous draft, so I'll just be making it up as I go along this time. Oh, and by the way, I think I gotta say this, so... I don't own any concepts, characters, or locations canon to My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, such as (but not limited to): the Elements of Harmony, Fluttershy, and Equestria.
